Note:- 1. In these cates the cargo oats were stopped by the Japanese who after searching

them made the crew take to their own sampans, after which the junk was set on

fire and allowed to drift away.

The junks that were confiscated were towed away by the Japanese to an unknown

destination after the crew of the junk had been made to take to their own

sampans.

Between 1st January, 1938 and 30th June, 1938 in addition to the boats given in

these lists, there were 25 cargo boats and 7 fishing boats, which were not based

on Hong Kong, molested, burnt or confiscated.

When these reports were made, and the masters claimed to have been born in Hong

Kong, there was no reason to dispute their claims. quite a number of the claims

were enquired into and found to be correct.
